Games and animation festival BLON is returning for 11th year to Klaipėda and will take place on September 11-14.

This year’s game development related sessions will mostly take place on Friday, Sept. 12. Žilvinas Ledas from Tag of Joy will share the advice for younger creators how to start working with games. Ewa Maria Szczepanowska and Pawel Miechowski will run a workshop combining their vast knowledge from Warsaw Film School and 11 bit studios about how to best prepare the foundation for your game and team for successful development. Vaidas Gecevičius from CHARK will overview their journey during self-publishing VR game Exer Gale on Meta and the general situation with self-distribution on other major platforms. 

Saturday will be more geared towards game festivals: previous BLON showcase participant Simon Thomas Grunwald will share his view on why going to such festivals is beneficial for developers, and one of the famous A MAZE. festival organisers, Zuraida Buter, will explore the alternative controls movement and what experiences it brings to game events.

Aware Game Awards will again be a central showcase of games, with 10 games selected from various countries addressing many social topics. And this year vast majority of creators are joining the event live. Find the full program here: https://blon.lt/en/2025/aware/

Also, for the first time, the festival will include WINGS award, which highlights outstanding games where women and other gender marginalised developers hold key positions. Five games have been selected for this award, and visitors will have a chance to play them. 

All in all, BLON this year looks to be a record breaker with the largest animation programs and almost 100 guests gathering from animation, games, VR and related industries.
